Mark Bowe, host of DIY Network’s Barnwood Builders, worked his way through West Virginia University as a coal miner, earning bachelor’s and masters degrees. He is a craftsman, businessman, historian, and a passable break-dancer. He founded his restoration company, Barnwood Living, in 1995.  He and his longtime crew have reclaimed more than 400 pioneer-era structures. Mark is passionate about honoring the crafts of America’s pioneer ancestors and is devoted to ensuring their hard work lives for centuries to come. Join him as he shares experiences, stories and expertise in restoration and living life to the fullest.

In addition, we will talk about career opportunities in the trades including: how to begin a career in the construction industry, types of construction trade work, and current opportunities for employment. Industry business owners from the community will share an inside look at the realities of working in the trades and discuss the false stigma associated with pursing a construction trade as opposed to a four-year college.
